Dressing Up!

Tarin dresses up all the time. This morning she came out as the Polka-Dot Butterfly Witch! It's amazing all the different fashions she comes up with. I do know that the butterfly wings are a key part of any dress up outfit!

1st Softball Game 2010

Tarin's first game was on May 20th.  She wasn't too happy that I made her tuck in her shirt and had already started taking pictures.
The coach instructed the girls that they needed to cheer for whoever was up to bat!
"Let's Go Tarin (clap clap) Let's Go!"
"Run Tarin Run"
My pitcher caught me taking pictures!
"Mom! The game is almost over please stop taking pictures."
My reply "just one more!"

Neighborhood Friend

Tarin and Alisha have been riding the bus together for the last 2 years and quickly became friends. Alisha is 11 years old and is a great friend to Tarin.  With the warmer weather the girls have been getting together a lot more.  I'm thankful Tarin has someone to play with right here in the neighborhood, Tarin is almost the only child that lives on the island, so we usually have to "schedule" playdates with other friends that live in town or further out of town.  Tarin has been very lucky in having good friends no matter where they live.  Hoping this summer will be a fun-friendly summer for all of us!

Flowers

It takes a lot of this to get this:

Casey the Cockatiel

Casey is almost 3 months old now and loves to be out of his cage.  We are not sure whether Casey is a boy or a girl, something we are suppose to be able to tell after first molt.  Casey is learning to wolf whistle.  About 8:30 every evening he loves to whistle, I believe he does it to get more attention, which successfully gets.  I have learned to open the cage door with caution if I am not wanting him/her out, Casey very quickly will be up my arm and to the top of the cage, as you see in the last picture.  Casey has brought alot of joy and smiles to our home!  Tarin plans on taking Casey when she moves out, which I am hoping she changes her mind by then.

Science Central Field Trip

This year the 2nd graders field trip was to Science Central in Fort Wayne, Indiana and I got to chaperone!  Tarin loves science and was excited to get to go again so soon.
This is the Mars Rover exhibit, the kids used the controls to control the robot arms to pick up things just like Mars Rover.
Moonwalking was the favorite for our group!

Tilted Room was another favorite!
A new exhibit was the "telescope" as the group referred to it. It is actually called Hubble Space Telescope. It was my favorite exhibit. They had pictures of different galaxies, planets and of course hands on activities for the kids.
Riley, Brittany, Tarin, Elijah and Kaleb
After lunch the kids had time to play on a nearby playground before the hour and half ride home.
A day of Science, lunch, new playground to explore and a long bus ride wore my 2nd grader out!  It was an amazing day.  I'm thankful that I have had the oppurtunity to be homeroom parent this year and to get to know the kids.

Tarin Mop's!

Tarin came home from school to find our small kitchen to be empty. Right away she asked if she could help mop "since I've never done it before."  I handed her the mop, gave my instructions and stood back.  She asked for help to squeeze the water out and asked where to begin. She gave the mop a workout and the floor was squeaky clean!
